As you wander, try to spot the birds behind the songs. With the dawn chorus reaching its peak, this is an experience no bird lover should miss—nature’s finest concert awaits.
About the workshop leader
Growing up on the edge of Ashdown Forest, Tom spent his childhood exploring its woodlands, streams, and heaths in search of wildlife. This freedom inspired his career as an ecologist and environmental educator, dedicated to wildlife conservation. With a degree in Environmental Management and over 20 years of experience, Tom is a naturalist eager to share his knowledge with visitors.
Tom said: "Wakehurst hosts some fantastic birdlife, from the buildings and formal gardens down to the woodlands and lakes. There is always something to see and hear - Firecrests hiding in the evergreens, Tawny Owls in the woods and the chance of a blue flash of Kingfishers across the lakes in the Loder Valley. There’s nothing I enjoy more than tuning visitors’ ears into the bird sounds at Wakehurst, leaving them with a new appreciation of the place and a memorable experience."
