Evolutionary biologist with a focus on bioinformatics
I studied forestry engineering at the Polytechnic School of Madrid, where I first came into contact with DNA tools to explore deep questions about plants. This led me to pursue further specialisation in Evolution through a master's at Imperial College London in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation.
Through my PhD I am exploring the unknown evolution of the import and date palm crop (Phoenix dactylifera) and its wild relative species through whole-genome sequencing and bioinformatics. I am hopeful that these insights will serve to understand and better conserve the fascinating natural world of these plants and the traditional use of them by local communities.
- PhD in Evolution of genus Phoenix - ongoing
- MSc in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation, Imperial College London - 2020
- BSc in Natural Environment Engineering (Forestry), Polytechnic School of Madrid - 2018
